August 21: Pharmacist-Administered Injectables Certificate Training Program


OPA is pleased to offer its live, re-introduced Pharmacists Administered Injectables Training program on Friday, August 21, 2026,for pharmacists who plan to administer dangerous drugs by injection.

Pharmacists who plan to administer these dangerous drugs must:

  • Complete a course in the administration of drugs that meets the requirements in Ohio Administrative Code 4729:1-3-03(L);
  • Receive and maintain certification to perform basic life-support procedures by completing a basic life support training course certified by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or other training course approved by the board of pharmacy;
  • Practice in accordance with a protocol established by a physician, certified nurse-midwife, clinical nurse specialist, or certified nurse practitioner which satisfies the requirements established in rules adopted by the State Board of Pharmacy.

The Ohio Pharmacists Foundation offers this certificate training program to meet these requirements. The program includes 10 hours (1.0 CEUs) of home study coursework and 3.5 hours (0.35 CEUs) of live coursework. Both home and live portions must be completed to receive the certification. Participants will also receive a protocol package which includes draft protocols for pharmacist administered injectables.

Access to home-study materials will be sent upon receipt of registration. Completion of home-study materials are not required prior to the live training. However, completion of home-study materials is required to receive your certificate.

The live training will be held at the OPA office 2674 Federated Blvd Columbus OH 43235.
