APPE Student Rotation
About OPA's APPE Rotation
Students attend a variety of OPA committee meetings to learn about various issues in pharmacy as well as participate in meetings/projects with other health professions in Ohio. Students contribute to continuing education programming, in meeting planning and staffing, in student activities coordination, and in general association management tasks. Students research and write articles for the association publication, the Ohio Pharmacist journal, and assist in its production.
Students may observe State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy adjudication and reciprocity hearings. If the legislature is in session, students may observe House and Senate sessions and committee hearings; research, write, and possibly present testimony; and meet with their legislators one-on-one to discuss pharmacy issues. In addition, students may present a program in the community, such as careers in pharmacy, poison prevention, smoking cessation, medication safety, etc.
Every day is different at the Ohio Pharmacists Association, and we strive to expose students to the “larger picture” of their profession and afford them the opportunity to network with pharmacists, other health professionals, and the public.
This rotation is available through an application process. Application deadline is December 1.
