Multi-Cancer Early Detection Act Reaches Major Milestone in Congress

The Ohio Hematology Oncology Society (OHOS) is pleased to share an important update from Washington, D.C. The Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) Act (H.R. 842/S. 339) has now reached a historic milestone with 291 cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives and 60 in the U.S. Senate, a two-thirds majority in both chambers.

This broad, bipartisan support makes the MCED Act the most widely backed health bill in Congress. The legislation is designed to improve early detection of multiple cancers through innovative screening technologies, helping to save lives by identifying cancers earlier when treatment is most effective.

OHOS thanks the Ohio congressional members who have cosponsored this important legislation: Representatives Joyce Beatty, Troy Balderson, Mike Carey, Greg Landsman, Max Miller, Marcy Kaptur, Shontel Brown, and Emilia Sykes, as well as Senator Bernie Moreno and Senator Jon Husted.

With this momentum, the MCED Act is closer than ever to passage. OHOS will continue to follow its progress and share updates with our members.
